What is a periodic vehicle inspection?
A periodic inspection is the legally required check that your vehicle meets Danish technical and environmental road-safety standards. It's repeated at fixed intervals — typically every second year for cars — and is a requirement for driving the car legally.
At Aktiv Bilsyn, inspections take place in a modern facility with up-to-date equipment. We check brakes, steering, lights, tyres, exhaust, chassis and a range of other points, and you get the result right away.
What does the inspector check?
- Brakes, handbrake and braking force on all wheels
- Steering, suspension and chassis
- Lights, reflectors and electrical systems
- Tyres, wheels and suspension
- Exhaust, emissions and noise level
- Bodywork, windows and safety equipment
How to prepare your car
Most remarks come down to small, avoidable things. Check that all bulbs work, that your tyres have legal tread depth, and that the windscreen has no major stone chips in the driver's field of view. Make sure the car is reasonably clean so the inspector can see the underside.
Did your car get a remark?
You'll get a deadline to fix the issue. Afterwards, simply book a quick re-inspection at a fixed price of 300 kr., regardless of vehicle type.
Frequently asked questions
What do I need to bring for the inspection?
You generally don't need to bring any documents, as inspection data is retrieved electronically. If you have a physical registration certificate, feel free to bring it.
When does my car need its first inspection?
New cars need their first inspection 4 years after first registration, then every second year.
Can I drive my car if the inspection date has passed?
No. Driving with an expired inspection risks a fine, and the car can be deregistered by the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency.
